French-Canadian Tourtière with Roasted Vegetables & Homemade Chunky Ketchup: A Canadian Tribute (includes complimentary surprise dessert)

Oh Canada, how I love thee.

After growing up in many countries all over the world, we settled in Canada for 33 years and you were my home, my foundation, and the place where my dreams took flight. It was in Canada that I was able to start my speed dating company, 25Dates.com, in 2002, a venture that continues to thrive to this day. Through this business, I met the most amazing man—my Canadian husband Aaron—and together, we built a beautiful life. From our love came the greatest gift of all, our son Shane, who continues to amaze and astound me with his kindness, intelligence, and talent. They both made my life complete.

Canada, you are breathtakingly beautiful. From the stunning landscapes of the Rockies to the serene shorelines of the Maritimes, from the vibrant city life of Toronto to the quiet charm of the prairies, you are a land of endless wonder. Your seasons painted my world with vibrant autumns, crisp snowy winters, fresh green springs, and warm golden summers. Your diversity, your spirit, and your unwavering kindness shaped me into who I am today.

I felt it was long overdue to create something that truly honours my love for Canada and what better way to do so than with a taste of its rich culinary traditions? To celebrate, I will be making tourtière, a classic French-Canadian meat pie (pork & beef) that embodies the warmth and comfort of home.

This will be served alongside roasted vegetables and a delicious homemade Chunky Ketchup, inspired by a traditional recipe. This meal is a small tribute to a country that gave me so much—a country that embraced me, allowed me to grow, and led me to the life I cherish today.
